Van Gogh 1600.2 ---> extreme power hog??

Ok I really need help here....
I was planning on getting this amp for two REaudio 12" SE subs. I was just told that this amp, the SoundStream Van Gogh 1600.2 is a powerhog and It would really Drain out my electrical system.

don't buy it unless you plan on doing HEAVY electrical system upgrading . I mean like a new 200 amp alt , battery isolator AND an extra battery in rear .. They are complete power hogs .
above is the exact quote is this right????

ah icic, well no idea then. get a 1/0awg kit don;t know about teh fuse though. Ho alt and red top otherwise you'll get electrical problems and you'll have a whiny alternator.

call up soundstream and ask them what fuse you'll need and how many amps this thing draws.

Re: Van Gogh 1600.2 ---> extreme power hog??

I have the VGA800.2. It says it can draw up to 133A. The manual gives some equations to follow in order to get the amp rating for their amps. I imagine the 1600.2 would draw max of 266 according to my methods.
My amp does draw some serious power. Right now i am waiting to get $ for some mbquart subs and am running a 12" cheapo at 400w max. My lights dim and I have 0g ran, the big 3 ran, optima yellow top. Its in a 01 ford ranger which has a decent alternator, i think 140A.
