Re: amps to stay away from

You mentioned Lanzar in that list...I would further clarify that as the Vibe series, the Optidrives are nice amps.

And some of the older Sony ES stuff is killer...

but all the rest are right on.

Re: amps to stay away from

I've used all those brands back in the day and the only really one that I would say to stay away is Rockwood. It's really garbage in all aspects. Now, the rest... they don't fail. It's cheap, dirty overrated power but at least they last and don't burn up unless you really screw them up. I've had all those brands and those amps are still living and kicking in the cars of the kids in my neighbor hood that inherited them after me when I moved up to "real man" stuff, hehe. The only ones that died were the Rockwoods; they're really garbage. The Bosss AVA series are awesome, the Pyramid purple ones never die, the Legacy white ones never die, Lanzar Vibe they die if you overheat them but they bump, the Pyle it's the cheapest of all but it's all right. Other ones that work good are Power Acoustik. Even the cheapo ones work and don't die.

well i was wondering about power acoustik. i've been wondering how well their amps perform and where they stand quality wise. i was really leaning towards getting the a3000db.

That's a pretty powerful amp, and they make some really decent equipment for the price that you pay......

Re: amps to stay away from

I'd absolutely go with PG over PA.

PA is on the same level as Lanzar, if that helps.

Re: amps to stay away from

crystal clear. like i said i don't wanna be sorry with what amp i ultimately get. i've been thinking about sumthing from earthquake, kicker, jbl, hifonics, etc. anyone have any suggestions for a solid, reliable, quality amp around roughly 300-350? i have 2 kicker s12l7 dvc 40hms in a ported box (prefab). here's the link to the box: http://electrogalaxy.dtopinc.com/ind...bject=xepl7212 so any suggestions? also i'm leaning more towards spl than sq if that helps.

Re: amps to stay away from

SPL vs SQ doesn't matter when it comes to amps.

I like Kicker amps. If you can dish out for it. Or get the Orion amps. Can find them for cheap online, and ive heard reviews of them being better than the Kickers.

Re: amps to stay away from

i thought my memphis was a good amp... till it decided that
it wanted to go into protection every three milliseconds...

then all of a sudden people started telling me that memphis
amps arent all that good... hmmm... well ill warn you in advance
that memphis amps may not be all that good...

ive got a viper on the way... supposedly its comparable
    to an orion... we'll see...

i looked into PG [the xenon] but ran into mixed reviews
just like you said you did with their products...

i guess equipment is only as good as you treat it... even
a good amp can be abused and fail... just like a crappy
amp can be baby'd and last forever...

No experience with the new Xenon line, but the Tantrum amps are solid, as well as every other PG amp I've had experience with
