ok right now i have 2 12inch powerbase chrome series subs and theyre rated to handle 250wrms a piece. im getting ready to upgrade my amp right now since its only 400watts. im stuck between the soundstream rubicon 500 and the brutus BX 1500 D. just wandering what others think which i should choose.

I have a Rubicon 720 and it seriously kicks ***. Truly unde . I would buy more if I needed them.
I don't know about Brutus.

if I were you, I would think about an MA Audio Mono amp. Check them out...they can be found cheap on ebay. I got mine for $140 shipped and it powers my 2 tempest, sounds amazing and its only on half gain.

If the gain was set properly, then it's setting doesn't really matter.



But, if it's an original Rubicon we are talking about, IMO it's leaps and bounds better than Hifonics or MA Audio

the amp is an M1889i, I believe. I dont know if that exact model is still on ebay or not but Im pretty sure it is. Otherwise check out their website for a current 800w mono sub and look it up on ebay.

By either using an o-scope or following the gain setting tutorial in the amp section. But "half gain" doesn't mean anything other than you either have a low voltage output headunit or that you didn't set it correctly.

I have a 6.5v pre-out on the HU and I was just told to put the gain on half...it sound good that way but if I can get it to sound better than it does now, Ill do that! Thanks squeak

i believe most will agree with this statement. i got a 1500 and its a nice amp, but from what i hear and read it doesnt compare.
