hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

well, i got my brutus back today, and i want to hook it up.
(it was being repaired) unfortunately, i have fried this amp twice. i was told it was because i was using a switch for the remote lead, instead of the h.u. remote lead. does this sound right? can it fry an amp? i've had it running that way with all my other systems and it has never fried anything. the brutus is a digital amp though. i've never had a dig. b4.
i'm going to running a 15" solobaric dvc 2-ohm. i run that parallel and get 1 ohm right? i did run the remote from the h.u. to the other amps in the back, so it shouldn't fry the brutus now right? any help would be sweet. thanks

Re: hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

how many amps are you hooking up to your HU? You might want to look into a relay for them if you have a few. Its cheap insurance and im sure many people dont have one for multiple amp systems, but for a few bux it COULD save you a huge headache of being w\out a HU. Im not sure about a switch for a turn on lead being the cause for the amp to crap out....maybe it was too high voltage or getting spikes or somthing? Who knows. Good luck and yeah, dVc2ohm subs in parallel make it run at 1ohm. Should be pretty **** loud.

Re: hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

well, i have a profile 600w, running my mids ands highs, and right now a profile 1200w running a different 15" solobaric. i'm pretty sure the hifonics amp will win between the two. my remote lead does have a max amperage load, but i can't remember what it is. i have a sony cdx-l510x. i think it's like .6 amps. i'm not sure how to figure the draw off each amp. any help, again? thanks

Not really sure how to figure that out. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on it.

Re: hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

These are your options for wiring DVC 2ohm subs

    Parralel will be 0.5ohm
    Series-Parralel will be 2ohm
    Series will be 8ohm
    Dual Parralel will be 1ohm x 2
    Dual Series will be 4ohm x 2

15L7 will wang off that amp, make sure u get the dual 4 ohm and wire it like #1 to get 1000watts out of that amp.
    Wiring Wizard
just seen u got the dual 2 ohm.. dont think you'll be able to wire it to 2 ohms. might wanna keep ur gain low if u wire to 1 ohm

Re: hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

don't have the brutus hooked up yet, tried today. somehow, without my hu on, i get 1.3 volts to all my components remote leads...(x-over,amps). that's where i get confused. why is there any voltage at all with nothing on? like i said in my 1st post, i have a profile ca1200 hooked up to one 15" right now, and have never had a problem with operation. but, with this hifonics amp, when i hook the power-ground up, the amp lights come on and it starts to make a high pitched squeal. i mean maybe it's something stupid i overlooked. i don't know, i've never had a dig. amp before. could it be that i have the power and backup to my hu wired together? that's the only other thing i can think of that's rigged. if anyone can help me out, please do!!! i guess the dr. needs to go back to school!! gotta go fillet my catfish, peace

How is the Hifonics digital?? And please don't say because it's a class D (refer to sig)

Do you mean the 12V constant (yellow) and Accessory (red) wired together?? If so, what do you have them wired to (a constant source or ignition switched source)??

Re: hooking up a 15" solo square to the bx1500d

i don't know wtf i've been saying it's digital. i think i may have been thinking of someone elses amp. the constant and accessory are wired together to a constant source. i have it like that so i can turn it on without a key. the wire goes straight (well, it's fused) to the battery.
