    Re: Amplifier recommendation

Ok guys so i purchae tge sq2200.2 very excited to set the system up. Given that my amp is going to be much more powerful than my speakerd i want to make sure i tune the amp correctly. What would be the best way to test the wattage output so i dont blow my speakers.
Ive been reading all these different ways like using a dummy load.
Cant you just amp probe the output wires going to the speakers and do the calculations to get the wattage. Why so much complexity

better method, turn it up until you hear a change in bass tone or if it stops getting louder, then back off a few clicks, then do 5 mintue to 15 minute tests and check the heat of the sub and amplifier. Heat is what kills your equipment. A voltmeter can also help, when you drop voltages really quick thats a good sign of clipping as well. After 10-30 minute sessions If the equipment is hot, back it off. If the equipment is slightly warmer than room temp, you are good. If the equipment is ice cold, you got some more left in the tank. Always monitor heat along with a keen nose and you'll never blow anything.

Those watt calculations are useless because it'll be a different load when real music is played. Best you'll get is a ballpark but its a waste of time compared to the method i described.
