quick and easy question for teh noob

I just got a car not that long ago, i want to upgrade subs so i decided to go with 2 jl audio 10w0 10" subs. specs :Power Handling RMS Watts: 125 watts rms each sub 250 watts for both subs
Power Handling MAX Watts: 250 watts max each sub 500 watts max for both subs , voice coil: single. I read reviews of these subs giving good base for the price. So i was wondering if i needed an amp for this setup, or in general, would i need an amp for any base system? or could i just hook these up without an amp?
if i need an amp, any suggestions on a good but cheap amp for this setup?
