Is this Fosgate 1000w amp any good?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but this is my first post, be nice.
Ok im trying to get a new set up in my Honda (my last one was stolen recently). My friend has an mono amp he is going to let me use, and he says if i like it, he'll sell it to me. Its a fosgate 1000w @ 2ohm amp. I think it may be a punch (?) amp. It is black with fins (as are most fosgates). He said he bought it new for around $375 (if that helps anyone distingish what model im talking about). What i want to know is if this is a good amp. does it really put out 1000watts? My last amp was a bazooka 500 (300 w @ 2ohms). Is this amp really going to pound or is it just a lot of hype from fosgate's advertising? My last amp was into 2 12"s paralelle which is what ill do with this new fosgate amp. Do you think the beat will be heard outside of the car well? (94 honda accord). My last set up, you couldnt really hear beat, just rattle. Thanks for your help in advanced and being patient with me, im trying to learn more! thank you.

If its a BD1000 or a 1000@2 or whatever it will get anything loud. Im not a huge RF fan but the bd series is pretty nice.

Does it have 4g inputs for the + and - ?

sounds like the bd1000. Pretty nice amps - probably a bit under-rated - should be more in the 1200 watt neighborhood at two ohms and some of the more efficient amps you can find. If it's fosgate - even the newer stuff - it might not be the best stuff out there, but you're pretty safe in assuming it'll do what's advertised or more.

that'll depend on your budget and car. YOu can choose to go with many subs with low RMS handling, or a single one with high RMS rating. Either way, 1000w RMS is going to sound LOUD.

    Team Caraudio

    Sony C90, 210 EQ
Seas 27TDF/C, RE XXX 6.5, custom xo (dyn 240GT sitting idle)
    RF 60.2 amp
    eD A15.22
    Soundstream picasso 1400.1D

    Bass drive-by's are uncool.

Myself im not much on RF the subs bang but the amps are so so get yourself an Autotek AMX 50.2, 100.2, 200.2man 1 ohm stable bridge mode and can easily push anything you put on it i have 2 kicker L7 15's on mine. The new Autotek stuff i dont care for made in Korea CRAP but the old white ones too the black mean machines as i have are vicious.

I'd say the exact opposite...the amps are slightly underrated, may not be the cheapest out there in their class, but they're not bad at all. subs are so-so, however...IMHO.
