My not broken amp thatactually broke.

Hi guys as you may know I have been posting several questions in the amp section. Now about that amp that I am sending out for warranty today. I figured I wouls post a quick question and a few details about the amp.
First whats wrong is that the amp does not output any sound to the sub. At first I thought it was the sub. I hooked the sub up in the house and it works. So I thought maybe the line in wires to the amp. Nope not the issue. So the amp power light is on, so the amp is getting power. Just no output sound. So what the heck could be wrong?

If you mean RCA from the deck to the amp yes and I checked to see if they were bad. I used a different set and still no good.

Have you checked to make sure the RCA outputs on your head unit are working properly? Use a DMM and set it to AC volts, and test the RCA jacks

Make sure ur deck doesn't have to sub turned off. It sounds stupid but people forget about that setting from time to time. And what amp and what ohm load

Re: My not broken amp thatactually broke.

Ok so I checked with a DMM I checked 3 RCA outputs. I checked the two from the deck and the one from the stock outputs that came with my car. None of them measured anything in terms of AC or DC volts. Im not sure what was suppose to happen but to test the DMM I check the bat and it read 14.5 while the car was running.

My deck doesnt have a subwoofer output. The amp is a SoundStream RUB1.800D and it was running at 4 ohms to one sub.

Did you put the positive probe of your DMM inside the RCA connector and the negative probe on the outisde of the connector? Make sure the H/U volume is up a bit so it can read a signal. If you've done this and and there is no A/C reading, then your deck itself isn't putting out the signal to the amp and this is where your issue is from.

Do you have an ipod/mp3 player you can connect to your amp with a 3.5mm to RCA jack? Or even a phone would work. If you are able to get sound of your subs from this, then your amp is not the problem and the issue is coming from the source.

Yeah I just drove to school and I noticed it wasnt bumping. I thought it was the sub at first cuz the amp power light wass green. But after I hooked the sub up in the house it worked o I figured it was either the amp or wiring. I checked the wiring and am following suggestions here.
