I'm thinking about getting a Hifonics amp, does anyone know if the ratings on their amps are the RMS rating or the peak?

Which amp are you looking at specifically? Someone here can tell you if it will do rated and how much it will put out rms.

You will likely need to do electrical upgrades. Youtube the big 3, get yourself a 2nd battery and stay away from capacitors and get yourself a voltage meter. You want to stay as close to 14.4v as possible. You don't want to go below 12v. Use 0 gauge wire for the install and big 3. Welding cable also works well (2/0)
