Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
ok so i currently have two of my 4ohm 10s(500watts ea.) hooked up to my 2 channel 1100 watt amplifier. The amp claims it pushes - 2 x 125w at 4ohms, 2 x 250w at 2ohms, 1 x 500w at 4ohms Maxx. Now dont get me wrong because this setup DOES hits fairly hard, however my question is if each sub is only taking 125watts when they can take much more leading to harder hitting subs. And if that is the case should i wire them parallel to draw 250watts? Should i get a larger amp? Or am i just talkin nonsense here??
Help would be very appreciated.

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
problem is your amp , if you wire the amp 2 ohm bridged it will blow .you need a mono block amp

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
well while i was waiting for a reply i just went out and bridged the amp (amp to 1st sub, 1st sub to second) and flicked this switch from stereo to mono on the amp. they hit harder now and it seemed to work finw but from what you said, should i undo this due to risk of blowing my amp?

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
A lot of things "work". That doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea.
At a minimum it will run much hotter than intended - eventually leading to thermal protection.
Doing that repeatedly will age your amp quickly.
Undoing it is up to you.
Best case scenario - the amp survives until you upgrade or otherwise decide your done with it.
Worst case scenario - it burns up in the very near future.

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
Could you briefly explain why this amp in particular isnt good to bridge.
And a monoblock amp running the subs parallel...? Is that best option or any other recommendations?

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
What amp and subs do you own? Never mentioned what brand and model they are. That would help alot.
If your running D4 subs you are most likely wired to a 1 ohm load and your amp is not stable at 1ohm.

Re: Is my amp enough? Or different wiring necessary?
The amp's output is designed for 500w at 4 ohms (bridged). That works out to about 11A.
When you drop 4 ohms to 2 ohms that 11A required to produce 500w becomes 16A.
You're just asking more of the amp than it is designed, or can be expected to sustain.
It will run hotter, and less efficient than it would while being operated within its stated limits.
