    Frequency settings

    Hi all,

Another newbie question so bear with me. This is in regards to setting the LPF and HPF of the system. I am running a 4 channel amp ( 4 speakers)and a two channel ( bridged for subwoofer). I am feeding the 4 channel and then using a Y to run to the sub amp. The 4 channel is set to HPF and is locked in at 80hz or you can set to LPF or AP ( all pass) as well. My sub amp can be set to 50 -400hz and I presently have set to around 80hz hopefully as the graduations on the dial aren't marked. Now my question is at the HU you can adjust the HPF to 80, 100,120 and possibly 140. I know I have to play around with it to see what sounds best but is it okay to set the HPF a bit higher on the HU if the amp is locked in at 80Hz. MAybe the amp needs to be set at all pass then to use the higher HPF. Any thoughts.

    Re: Frequency settings

When you have crossover settings on the HU and the amp, run one or the other (not both). I always prefer the HU because there's no guessing involved. Set the amp to AP on all 4 channels and just use the HU

    Re: Frequency settings

One or the other, yes. But the increments provided by the HU aren't always ideal - like what if you want HPF at 70Hz or 65Hz. In that case I would use the amp HPF instead.
