Re: Anyone know true output of a JL Audio 1000/1?

Im not sure what the actual output is, but I do know for a fact that the amplifier is underrated. Most companies rate their amplifier's output @ 14.4V, meaning for example, a sony amp that does 75Wx4 @14.4V will loose output as battery voltage drops. JL has solved this problem with their regulated power supplies, which gives all of their "slash" series amps their rated outputs from 11-14.5V. One good thing about JL's "e" series amplifiers is that their rated outputs are given @12.5V, a more real world voltage level. By doing this, it appears that these amplifiers are underpowered compared to their compeditors, but in reality, they are pushing just as much or more power then amps rated @ 14.4V. It is very rare that you will find a system, especially ones with high current draws that stay @14.4V constantly

Hell yes they underrate their amps, you will atleast be getting 1100 RMS out of one of those and possibly more.

Re: Anyone know true output of a JL Audio 1000/1?

i heard JL has a limiter built into the amp keeping it from going over what its rated at and thats why it puts out 1000watts at all ohm levels and it also keeps anything bad from happining to it

but i could just be an idiot and heard wrong

Re: Anyone know true output of a JL Audio 1000/1?

I was told that one of the installers at Car Toys bench tested a JL 500/1 and it put out just shy of 650 continuous. So I was guessing maybe a little more for the 1000/1 as well. Thanks for the reply's guess i will just have to go and find out.
