Icon32 Precision Sedona or MB Quart for my Mids ??

I am looking at a Precision Sedona series and MB Quart Onyx 100.2 2 channel amp for my midbass / midrange drivers. My midbass are rated at 150w rms 4 ohms (pwx6.5's) and I plan on running each side in parallel (2 ohms then). Also using an active crossover. Which amp do you guys think is the best bang for the buck since I can get both an the same price? (I know the MB is cea rated but is it really that big of an issue in this case?)

    •Sedona Series 2-Channel Class A/B Car Amplifier
    •RMS Power Rating: ◦4 ohms: 130 watts x 2 chan.
    ◦2 ohms: 210 watts x 2 chan.

Re: Precision Sedona or MB Quart for my Mids ??

I would say they're about the same, perhaps PPI has a little bit more power, bigger heatsink (better for cooling, harder to find a flat surface to install). Just beware that a Class A/B amplifier with all channels running at 2ohms will run hotter than usual. You may want to place it so there is good air flow around the heatsink. If going cheap is not a huge concern, I'd recommend to look into PPI Phantom P600.2 Class D amplifier. The thing is tiny (6.5 by 6.5 inches), and I bet it will run cooler than the above. 600watt RMS total output running both channels with 2ohm load.

I went with the PPI 420.2 - seems like it will output more than the MB Quart 100.2 I was going to get. It also has a bigger heatsink which is good for running 2 ohms (as mentioned above) on a Class AB amp. Also I have no issue with its size since I have enough room for it Although I read that these amps do pretty much their rated power, I will clamp/scope/meter it once I get and let you guys know how it peforms... BTW I got a **** good deal on it for $80 shipped and everywhere else is $130 plus

Re: Precision Sedona or MB Quart for my Mids ??

Guys I got the amp and tested it on my scope / dmm with a 1Khz 0db signal and it put out exactly 22V ac in stereo mode and 44.1v ac in bridge mode. Sooooo that means, 121w rms into 4 ohms per ch. and 486w rms into 4 ohms bridged - wow not bad at all for an amp thats not cea rated and cheap! This was with a "CLEAN" sine wave on the scope btw - zero clipping even after zooming in on the waveform. Cant wait to hook it up and see how it peforms in reality.
