Witch amp should i go with?

So i'm looking on craigslist and there is a 40$ amp
Sony explode 500 watt XM-504z it is 4 channels, it says it is not bridgeable.
the spec says I can run
    RMS Power at 2 Ohms 60 W x 4

So if i wire my subs to 2 ohms, and connect it to 4 channels would i get 240 RMS or just 60 RMS for each sub?

Also the other amp is a kenwood KAC-x522 it says it is
    RMS Power: 165 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms
RMS Bridged Power: 505 watts @ 4 ohms

It says nothing about 2 ohms, so would it fry the amp if i wire it to 2 ohms? Also if it is 505RMS at 4 ohms, how much RMS would be pushed out if my subs are at 2 ohms, and would this be safe?
I can get this sub for 80$ off craigslist, please help me out.

    Sony explode << junk

Once you bridge an amp you are looking at 4ohms, unless it states that it can be bridge using 2 ohms.

What's the name and model of the sub or subs?

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

I'm buying 2 new subs, my understanding was if I wire single voice coils in parallel. It will be at 2 ohms, but the specs on the kenwood amp don't even say anything about 2 ohms. So can I bridge the 2 channel amp, and run my subs in parallel at 2 ohms even though the amp says nothing about 2 ohms?
If possible, would it be more or less than 505 watts?
Im a little new to this.. If not can i wire them in parallel and run them off 2 channels, if so how much RMS would I get?

So if it can only power 4 ohms, how do I wire 2 subs to make it run at 4 ohm and not 2?

Depends on the ohm load running..what are your coil configuration of the subs?that makes a hudge difference of what ohm load you can run,so you dont fry an amp and or the subs..

They should be 4ohm most likely,so 2ohms mono is what you will most likely need for those subs.
Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, Two 4 ohm Single Voice Coil (SVC) Speakers
Whats your maxed budget on an amp?

Yes a 2ohm mono would be IDEAL.
But I thought if you bridge a 2 channel AMP, it would be the same as 2ohm mono?? My understanding, is that bridging would make it mono, correct?
The kenwood only says 4ohm, so could i run 2ohm subs on it?

    Max very tops is 100$

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

Depends on the amp you get..They should have a switch on them with HPF,and LPF,,switched to the hpf will be for midrange and highs, or stereo mode, but you can run bridged in stereo mode on this switch ,In LPF mode(SWITCHED) will be in low form for running Mono/bridged for running subs AT A LOW IMPEDIENCE for subwoofers only. You can find a great 2ohm stable used amp for that price, that will/can out perform that kenwood..with searching

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

So pretty much I should just look for a mono amp instead?

And when I match the watts from the subs to the watts from the amp, witch switch do I turn to adjust the settings? The hz switch or db?

    RUB1 400 1 Channel 400 Watt Amplifier Soundstream New Rubicion Amplifier 709483029330 | eBay
this would be better than the Kenwood amp, my opinion of course, and BNIB Freeshipping.

Not necessarily..you can find some old school 2 ch A/B amps that can be bridged Mono for running 2ohm stable..Just have to look a little bit for that $100 margin..Its the LPF/and the HPF switch that will go from low to High/stereo mode

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

I found a Boss Audio R1100M for only 50$ seems kind of cheap for an amp.. it is monoblock
    MOSFET Monoblock Power Amplifier
    Remote Subwoofer Level Control Included

    1000W x 1 Max Power
    250W x 1 RMS Power

Good deal? Or is this a cheap amp that will blow?

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

once again. people thinking they can get a car audio system for 100 bucks. this is an expensive hobby man. you cant just throw a pair of subs that wires down to 2 ohms and run an amp that only can handle 4 ohm and expect it to be okay.

    Things to look forward to:
    (2) 10" or 12" imperium audio designs subs
set of PHD MF 6.5" comps
Completely seal off and deaden my doors
    aquire a 2k amp
aquire a 2 channel amp for front stage

Re: Witch amp should i go with?

I'm in about a thousand.... just for electrical and I got my 4/0 wire free. Batteries and alt cost a bundle. Car audio does get expensive...very very quick. Of course you can build a system cheap, but it's going to sound cheap.
