Infinity Kappa Five - short review
Got this 5 channel amp installed, and after playing around with it for a few days, I can say nothing but positive things about it.
Set up as follows.
Front Massive Audio CK6V components
Rear Pioneer TS-D1702R coaxials
12" Kicker 10CVR124
I have ran the amp pretty hard for an extended period of time, and have had no issues.
The amp can get a little warm (Not hot), but what amp doesn't heat up a bit.
I am sending out 50 watts rms to the front/rear and it's more than enough, and I have my levels set fairly low for those channels. Sending 300 watts rms to the subwoofer channel, and I decided to up the level on that channel a bit, just to get a bit more bass.
I love the size of his amp, under 15" in length. If you are looking for a 5 channel amp that you need to tuck away somewhere, this one is ideal.
Short review, and not incredibly specific, but I am digging the amp. Would highly recommend, and if you shop around you can find it at a great price.

I had completely forgotten this amp....good to see you like it bro
Re: Infinity Kappa Five - short review
300watts can still produce respectable bass for my taste given sufficient cone area. However, I'd set gains with a DMM on subwoofer channel (liberally, with a -5dB test tone) to make sure you don't clip the signal.

haha, I say it like that because my 10th grade year in high school when I decided I wanted a system, this was one of the first amps I came across. I knew Infinity was legit and I liked the ease of a 5 channel. I came VERY close to buying one and just letting things be with a nice 12 and some comps.... then I got ****** into the never ending cycle of buying tons of new audio equipment and wanting to get better and better :crap:
Re: Infinity Kappa Five - short review
Being a Class D amplifier, if it has efficiency comparable to other modern 5-channel amps (e.g. Polk D5000.5), I'd say the fusing of 80A indicates that this amplifier is slightly underrated, maybe by 25%. The polk has 80A fusing, and has rating of about 75watts rpms (4ohm) on full range channel and 400watts for the sub.

Re: Infinity Kappa Five - short review
Just to update. This amp died ten days after install and had to be returned.
Re: Infinity Kappa Five - short review
did you get another or go with something else?
Re: Infinity Kappa Five - short review
I have seen other reports of these Infinity amps dying. Maybe it's the reason they're not so popular. If you want a small budget class D 5-channel amplifier, I'd suggest to look at Polk D5000.5 or Alpine MRX-V70. These have been tested and verified to provide good clean signal. I haven't heard of problem reports with them on forums. Infinity is no longer a high end brand IMO. The only their car-fi equipment I like and currently use is the Kappa 120.9w subwoofer.

Zako, that's too funny. I ended up ordering a Polk PA D5000.5 earlier last week. Have had it running for about three days, everything is all good so far.
