stealth install and amp overheating question
I just purchased a car that has a tire inflater compartment in place of a spare tire and my amp fits in there with room to spare. I would like to keep that compartment closed with the factory cover for a stealth install but it has no ventilation. If I were to put a 12v cooling fan (or 2) in there would that keep my amp from overheating? I may build a custom vented cover but just wondering if the factory one would be ok. Btw the amp is a Hifonics Brutus pushing a single 2-ohm kicker solobaric and it does get hot.
Re: stealth install and amp overheating question
Your definately going to want to creat some kind of ventilation in my opinion. I mean think about it if that space seals well or somewhat well the heat is just going to build up in there and add extra heat to you amp which you said already gets hot. Your best bet is to keep as much heat off/away as possible
Re: stealth install and amp overheating question
Might sound dumb but try riggin up a small rubber hose to the ac vent if the car has ac and try running it in there theoredically it should work out great. Never know till you try tho
Re: stealth install and amp overheating question
Yeah, you need to vent that somehow more than likely. In the summer that amp will overheat down there.
