Your buddy's Pioneers are going to get louder than your Kenwoods no matter what you do... Ya know what are some good, cheap, surprisingly LOUD subs? Lanzar Max's. pick up like 3 of those for 120 buck,s build a big ported box for em' and put the Hifonics on it. You should be louder just by sheer cone area.
