T1500-1 bdcp possibly drawing to much juice?????? Please help

I will add pics later in a build thread....

Here is my current system after 8mo. system overhaul.

    2001 Taurus SEL
HU- Alpine 9887 (Active) w/schoche digital climate control Kit
Processing- AudioControl EQX on subs only
Front Stage- a/d/s M860 (8x60rms)Custom Glassed Front Pannels with Silver flute 6.5" mids and Seas Prestige 1" tweets in the sails
Rear Fill- 2- 6x9 CDT coax
    Substage- RF T1500bdcp running 2-15" L7's sealed
Electrical- Big 3 with 0/1 pure copper welding cable, Optima yellow top, 220amp Powerbastard alt. 2-1farad Caps. All speaker wire is knukonceptz 14ga. and RF 8ga.(taurus's **** azz to run wire in!)

My issue is with the T1500bdcp. (Brand new, I just installed it) For this test I am running 1 15" 4ohm sub so the amp is not stressing at all.(at least it shouldn't be). All Loudness, boost, eq's are off, subwoofer level at minimum(3 out of 15) The amp is cutting out on me as soon as I reach 19-20 on the volume out of 35. (deck clips @ 33+). Amp gains is set 3 out of eleven. I metered dc voltage at 14.6v at 1500rpm without the stereo load, and 13.8vdc with the stereo system running but when the amp starts cutting in and out the voltage drops to 11.5vdc. All power and grounds are clean and tight. Also I have done this test with 2 different subs and still get same results. Maybe the amp has a bad power supply? My electrical system shouldn't be a problem just had it completley checked out at "Auto Electric Specialists" and the confirmed I was getting 195amp @ 1300rpm. any help is appreciated.

2007 Volkswagen Fahrenheit GTI #470 of 1200 - Stock System w/big 3 and Yellow top optima. Slowly getting ready to start the system build

your orion still kosher? anyways, what does your voltage look like at the amp? have your caps took a dump, spiking the power supply with vibrations? and, you can use a 200a load tester on the wires the connect to the amp to see if you are getting that 200 amps to the amp.

I sold the Orion because I needed to get below 4ohms (loved that SOB)
Voltage at the amp starts at 14.4 then drops to 11.2 within 30 sec at 2/3 volume. I just realized that my stock 130amp alt. had a 175amp megafuse still inline. I will be replacing with a 250amp since my new alternator is supposed to put out 220amp at 1200rpm.
If that doesn't solve the problem I will bypass the caps and retest.

Well the caps serve no purpose... you might as well sell them and get a little money.
And... Why do you have that awesome front stage... and then Kicker L7 for the subs? o.0
And if the fuse was holding anything back, it would have blown. That amp shouldn't be pulling more than 175a of current anyways. And you fuse for the capacity of the wire. If you have 1/0 OFC, you should have a 300a fuse. It doesn't hurt anything besides blowing a fuse early if you run a smaller one,but just don't go above 300a.

the caps did serve a purpose in this build, from what i remember. first, it was just installing them to match period correct with outer equipment they came with, and second, to smooth out the power ripples for cleaner power. not there to make power as 99% of people try to use them for. but, they do fail. had to replace the one on my bench setup last year.

Just replaced fuse from alt. to batt. with a 250amp. I'm pulling the caps today at work. Will post results late tonight.

The Caps are only on the T1500 my other amps never needed them.

going with a bigger fuse wont do anything.......you need to upgrade your battery and atleast do the big 3

I don't think these 15's are gonna last to much longer. Amp is gonna wear them out shortly. Then I'll be getting something nice!

Yes it was period correct, Both still test ok but I am done with caps. Just gonna go with more batts, new subs are gonna need'em. Going shooting in a couple days, The caps will make nice targets for the AR15.

the caps are good for cleaning up the power on a bench supply. wish you had decided to ditch them last year. had to spend like 30 on another. at least it has the cool voltage display and relay built in, lol. what year are your l-7's?
