Best sub amp for 300 bucks?
I'm looking to power a setup of either 4 SVC 12s, or 2 DVC 12s. I been looking at the MTX RFL 1200D, as many owners' birthsheets put it at 1250 or so RMS at 1 ohm, and it only runs 260 bucks new. However...for the budget, are there better options you think?
And what about subs? They'll be in a custom 5-6 cube labrynth ported box. I just want the loudest system I can get for 500-600 bucks total. Can 1000W be had?
Re: Best sub amp for 300 bucks?
For $300, you can buy a very nice amp if you buy used. You can get a Sundown 1500, AQ 2200, RF T1000bdcp, DC 1.2, etc. If you don't mind buying used, you have a lot of options. If you want to buy new, you will still have a lot of options but 1,000 watts should be no problem.
Re: Best sub amp for 300 bucks?
older rf bd amps are great and would be good for that set up in that price range if you don't mind new.
Re: Best sub amp for 300 bucks?
You can buy a beefy 2k rms amp for around $250 so you just gotta look around really.
Re: Best sub amp for 300 bucks?
My list. In order. For a $300 budget. Take it FWIW.
I am adding an amp to the far and away #1 here even though it's a bit over budget at $350ish. The SoundStream DTR 3400. If you have $300, dig around in the couch cushions and find another 50-60 bucks.
1 - Used American Bass VFL
2 - Used AQ2200
3 - DB Drive pd2000.1
4 - Used Sundown 1500
5 - Used Skar 1500
6 - SoundStream DTR 1700
7 - PowerBass ASA 1500
8 - Used Massive 3k (2 ohm amp)
9 - Used Crunch GP Pro 3k
10 - SoundStream RUB 2500
Noteables (and only because they're discontinued, hard to find or not always priced at or under $300)...
- MBQuart Discus
- Used Atomic or RD stuff (1600, 1750, etc)
- IA 20.1 (if you see one for $300, snatch it)
- Kicker 1500 (solid 2 ohm amp. expensive and not very versatile, IMO)
- Rockford Fosgate t1500

It's a bit of a toss up there, but because there are so many refurbs out there that some have had trouble with, I gave the nod to the AQ. But you'll notice it's a used AQ and a new DB Drive. So, people can make thier own decisions.

I would get a new PPI P1000.1 or Boston Acoustics GTA-1000m, if you can still find the later new.
