Best bang for your buck for my system?
I need help choosing a amp for my future set up. I was running Kicker zx750.1 with my Kicker L5 but just bought a 12" FI AUDIO BL. It's wired at 3 OHM so I'm thinking it's only getting like 500 RMS. My budget is around 300--400 and I live in Hawaii so please consider shipping as well. I love Sundown but little too expensive? I do want a decent quality amp by the way...because I'm going for SQ so I'm reconsidering on my FI AUDIO SET UP as well. Or is FI AUDIO 12" okay for quality?
I should've got the components too after reading a bit on this site.
Alpine CDE-136 BT
PolkAudio 1" Tweeter
PolkAudio 4" Front
Infinity Kappa 5.25 Back
Kicker ZX 750.1
Orion Extreme 500.4
12" FI AUDIO BL 1000 Watt RMS 1500 Max
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
So are you asking about a decent sub amp and 4 channel or what? If you have 3-400 to spend on just the sub amp then you can get a VERY nice amp for that price with no more power than you will need for that sub. My recommendation would probably be an alpine PDX amp. Small, efficient and really good SQ. Sundown is good, but not as SQ oriented. And with that budget you could go SQ. No point in getting a 3000 watt amp cause that sub won't take it. And how is your sub wired to 3 ohm? It should be either D2 or D4. Meaning either .5, 1, 2, or 4.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
Yeah, I already have a decent 4 channel amp so I'm just looking for a amp for the sub. I had a chance to grab PDX 1000.1 for $200 on local craiglist but was waiting for RF or Sundown. I should've grabbed it. I didn't know Alpine amps had a decent SQ. I always learn something new here. My sub is dual 1.5 ohm wired to 3ohm. I think it's better so my amp won't have to work so hard at 1 ohm load and I haven't done the big 3 upgrade yet. I think Alpine PDX works perfect too because it gives 1000 watt to either 2 or 4 ohm load so it should give me 1000 watt into 3 ohms? I really don't care if it's not loud as long as I have a good SQ. I was also considering MB QUART 1500 and ROCKFORD but didn't know about their sound quality so I have been just reading a lot. Thanks a lot.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
rd audio is haveing a presale starting this week. i would capitalize on that.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
'sigh'...I guess I still need to read more. I have been reading on this site for a while now and I haven't heard of RD AUDIO. Are they good in SQ? I have been looking on their site and it says that it will give only 600 watts into 2 ohm load and 1000 watts into 1 ohm load. so if my sub is wired at 3 ohm,,,it will get even less Watts RMS. Will that be okay? My subs RMS is at 1000 watts.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
Is Rockford and Kicker amps worth their price? Lot of my friends say it's one of the best amps out there but I'm sure they only know brand names. When I mentioned,,/SUNDOWN/AUDIOQUE/CADENCE AMPS,,,they've never heard of it. lol. I was also considering AQ 1200 but it only gives 600 watts on 2 ohm load.I can't blame them. lol I was like that too before I found this forum.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
If your friends say Kicker & Fosgate are the best, then they're really not your friends.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
lol. I also saw JL1000/1 Slash on craiglist for $400 but I heard a mix review so I'm holding off on that.
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
I'm still confused at how your sub is at 3 ohms?
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
let me tell you about my experience with both Rockford p1000.1bd and Alpine pdx1.1000 i still have both . rf pros are is wiring options are very good .5 ohm stable . gets loud. looks great. cons the sq in lower notes just wasnt there. Didnt mention that it was a slight power hog. dippin my voltage from 14.4 to 13.0 ish. the alpine pdx is a great amp sq wise . no matter if amp seen a final ohm load of 4 2 or1 ohm it preformed well and sounded excellent. it does push 1k+ no matter what ohm . voltage dip down to 14.0 flat on full clip . small and fits right under seat. both amps were tested on the same electrical .

Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
what are the coils on you sub?
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
have a t1500bd and matching t4004 if interested. How do you have your sub wired to 3ohms?
Re: Best bang for your buck for my system?
Thank you for your review on Alpine PDX. I might just grab that one. I have been doing my research for a month now,,, and it seems the more I read,,,more confused I get.

I bought it used for $180 including the box and he stated it's wired at 3 ohm. He was running a ALPINE PDX.1000 with it. I never looked inside the box to confirm but it seems right because it's dual 1.4 ohm? I know,,,it's weird.

I bought it used and he was using a Alpine PDX as well. Maybe there was a reason behind it. Thanks a lot.
