Alpine Mrx-F30/ Polk MM5251 ohm wattage question
Hey guys the ohm's are throwing me off on my new Polk MM's. They are rated for up to 90watts at 2.7 ohms. My Alpines birth sheet says it did 95 watts at 2 ohms, so how many will it make at 2.7 ohm's? or will it just read it as a 2 ohm load? Sorry but always just had 4 ohm speakers so I'm like duh on this lol.

well, I will assume the birthsheet was done at 14.4v, so, just take a swag, i'd put it at about 60-75 watts x 4 depending on whether you are driving down the road, idling, or ignition off.

Yes it was good call lol. That should still be plenty to make my Polks scream though right?

Well I finally upgraded to the MM691 rears to. They are the first 6x9's I've seen with external crossovers. They are amazing speakers. They blow away the Pioneers and Alpines I had before them. I'm going to have to upgrade my amps and sub now lol. I'm pretty set on a PDX-V9 for my amp, but stuck between a Type-R 12 or the matching MM Polk 12. Any thoughts?

The Alpine Type-R and Polk MM subs both have their fans, so they mostly have good reviews. The latest Type-R has clear advantage in power handling, but that's irrelevant with your amplifier. I'd toss a suggestion to look also at Infinity Kappa 120.9w. 500watts of power should be about perfect for it. My understanding all of these subwoofers should work find in 1cu ft sealed box approx.

Yeah the Type-R can handle way more power but I just want good sound not to shake my car apart lol
