    Icon32 JL Audio vs. Zapco

I am upgrading my current system and installing MB Quart 6 1/2" components into the front and rear doors. I am looking for SQ and have heard great things about both JL and Zapco. Does anyone have experience with these amps...impartiality set aside?

    Re: JL Audio vs. Zapco

Hey eveyone this is my first post but thought I would chime in. I haven't had any personal experience with Zapco, I've auditioned a few Zapco amps but not in my vehicle. Now as far as the JL amps go I was running a Phoenix Gold amp until last week when I bought the 300/2 to power my fronts and a 500/2 to power my sub. Let me tell you that the SQ those amps put out is incredible. They are very clean powerful amps with lots of tweaking capability(esp. the 500/2). I know that they can't be compared to Audison or Butler Audio(Tubedriver), but not everyone can afford amps like that and for the money that you pay for the JL's I think they are fantastic. That's just my 2cents.

    Re: JL Audio vs. Zapco

Bahaha. Zapco and JL are about on the same level quality wise. The only difference is JL is regulated and Zapco is not, zapco also has the ability to be run at 16v balanced. Both great amps, the JL 300/2 was spec'd out WAY higher than a comparable Tru amp that cost a good deal more. Anyway, if you have a little while take a look here: http://www.carsound.com/cgi-bin/UBB_...c;f=1;t=022354

Tons of great info from extremely knowledgable members of the car audio community. If you're not too concerned about the in depth version of why one or the other is better I will say that I run a zapco 360 and it's a wonderful amp. Zapco are made in the USA and I've also heard they have awesome customer service. I haven't had cause to contact them yet so I can't say from experience. I think zapco may be a little more expensive than a comparable JL though. I don't have any experience with JL amps so I wont say more than I've heard they're excellent. I don't think you could go wrong with either. Good luck.

    Mike

    Re: JL Audio vs. Zapco

Zapco is superior to JL anyday of the week. And yes zapco is expensive compared to just about any amp none the less JL. Take the heatsink off a zapco and compare it to jL's line. (just my opinion anyway)(but, JL ***** in my opinion)

Either way you go, you'd be happy.

I've beat my friends 300/2 and 500/1 to hell and back ... many times ... amazing little things. Same thing for the Zapco.

    Re: JL Audio vs. Zapco

No JL doesnt "****" but to him it might. As for myself I dont think they ****, in fact I think they make excellent products but I dont care what anyone says, I hate JL Audio, I especially hate their amplifiers because theyre so strictly regulated. I wouldnt own a JL Audio amplifier if you were to give it to me, I would take it but I would just turn right back around and sell it. I dont like theyre amps and I think theyre subs are ok above the W3 line. Other than that, I havent heard or experienced enough of their products to rule out anything else.

Im not going to state what has already been said about the amps, but in my personal experiences JL audio drivers have disapointed my wallet and I many a time.

About me being stupid, Im getting paid $22ph right now, so say what you will. While your dreamin of w7's, I buy a piece of "good equipment" every Thursday

Yea... I think JL makes great products but I Dislike it no the less. I feel this way because people who dont know **** about car audio automatically say JL is good just because rappers such as G unit, Funk Mast Flex, and other such rappers say it's good. It's like people riding on 24" spinner rims just cause the rappers do.
