should i buy a 2 or 4ch amp and how powerful?

right now, i've got:

Sony 6.5" Implods in the front, 50w RMS
Sony 6x9" Implods in the back, 60w RMS

now that you're all done laughing: i'm looking at the Profile CA440 to power my 4 speakers. the 60w per channel that this amp puts out should push them nicely. however, i do plan on buying some components for the front in the future.

my question is, will the 60w per channel be enough when i finally move up to some comps, or should i buy a more powerful amp? the CA640 puts out 75w x 4 @ 4ohms, but it's 20 bucks more.

finally, i also considered just buying a 2 channel amp for the fronts alone, like the CA400. that one's 100w x 2 @ 4ohms. this would definitely give me some headroom for future upgrades, but:

- is 100w gonna beat the living snot outta my 50w RMS (front stage) Sonys?

- if i only power the 2 front speakers, i'll end up running the 2 60w RMS rears with the HU. i obviously won't be able to turn them up as loud as the fronts, and this being the case, how do i properly integrate them into my setup?

well, being my usual, compulsive self, i went ahead and bought the CA440 from nosaj070, to quell my current amp-lust.

at the nice price he gave me, if i decide to "fire it off the roof" in a few months and upgrade, i won't be broken-hearted.

but, a couple of my questions still stand, such as whether or not that CA440 will be adequate for future component speakers. thanks gang!

well it all depends on wat kind of components u get
u can get like 40-110w rms (jus to give an idea)
i have 40w rms comps and my cuz has 75w rms, so maybe if u upgrade to something that doesnt require that much power itll b fine but if they require lots then theyll prob still sound good but able to handle more power

also, think about bridging and different ohm impedances into the amp. that could you get you some more power.

me, I have a 65Wx4 rms @ 4ohm us acoustics amp;
but....
- 85Wx4 rms @ 2ohm
- 160Wx2 rms @ 4ohm

I'm (gonna be) running some cl-61s off channels 1 & 2 for the front, and then bridge channels 3 &4 for my sub (e12kx)
