is my sub amp too small?

I got a Memphis 16-SR1.250 amp for 1 Alpine Type R SWR- 1022D, basicly a 250w 2 ohm mono amp for a 2 ohm 10" sub capible of 500w rms and 1500w peak,,,, will i hurt the speaker or the amp using them together or will the speaker just not be as loud as it could be?

No you will not hurt a sub by underpowering it; I'm running mine at about half of its rated RMS and we're both happy.

If you set the gain correctly it will not hurt the speaker. But those subs really would be better on more power.

ya, got a good deal on the amp and bought it before the speaker... I was challenged to build the best system i can with less then $500 for my 96 F 350. So far i have aquired a pair of alpine type r 6.5's, a pair of alpine type r 5x7's, the memphis mono amp, 10" alpine type r sub and a Kenwood KIV-BT900 media player all for $375,,, all im missing is the 4 channel amp so im right on budget!
