Icon8 got a prob with my amp not turning off

ok i have a 1988 jeep that doesnt have a clip for the stereo... i got the stereo to work fine but the amp only works when i have it hooked up to the constent power. so my amp doesnt turn off now. also i have my amp hooked up directly to my battery and if i leave my car off long enough, the battery dies! its starting to make me mad... this never happened to any of my other systems

Well, then find a place to hook up your remote wire, that only has power when the car is on, just be careful what you cut into...

What is the remote wire hooked up to now?? The amp shouldn't work at all if it isn't hooked up to something.

Ok, a remote wire is, what tells your amp to turn on, so if your car is not in the accessory position, then u cannot listen to music,, but if you car is, you can, it is that simple...

Run it to your fuse box to a fuse that is hot when the car is on and off when the car is off.

Re: got a prob with my amp not turning off

I my self would not wire it up to the fuse box. You do not want to overload your electical system, may causing you to blow fuses or burn wires. Even though your remote turn on lead is pulling less than half an amp. I suggest if you cannot find a turn on lead from your head Unit then to run a toggle switch in line between your constant power and your remote turn on at the amp.

Re: got a prob with my amp not turning off

You can wire it to the fuse box. Your not gonna overload anything or fry any wires. The remote wire draws a miniscule amount of current.
