    Amp for Magnum D2

I was looking for an amp to power my magnum d2. I didn't really want to run an amp an 1-ohm cause i have heard that greatly reduces amp life, so i think i want to bridge a 2 channel amp to 4 ohms since they seem to be cheaper for the power than mono amps. What would you all recomend as a good clean amp with good features that can put out something around 800x1 @ 4-ohms rms. I am looking to spend around $300-$350 (not including shipping), so around a $500 msrp.

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

it will only reduce teh amplifier's life if it is not designed for 1 ohm use... many are.
look for something that either does the power you are looking for at 1 ohm or 4 ohm... monoblock willlikely be the way to go, and at 1 ohm as well. From a dollars standpoint.

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

I'd look at avionixx or tsunami:
    http://avionixxusa.com/ep/products.htm

avionixx makes GREAT high quality amplifiers:
for 1 magnum d2 i'd go with either
avionixx 800.2 or even the avionixx 1200.2 if u plan on ever competing or you like it loud! I have two magnum d2's with an avionixx 1200.2 on each one.

ALSO, if u don't want to spend all that look at the tsunami db1100. good amp. good luck, peace

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

get a tsunami 1100, great amp, cheap, and it really moves the magnum. youd wire it to one ohm but it wont harm the amp.

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

    I was looking at these:

    Hifonics BX 500D (subsonic filter) 500x1 @ 1ohm
    Orion 600D 600x1 @ 1ohm
    Soundstream VGA600.2 600x1 @ 4ohm bridged

or any other recomendations that would put out around 600-800 rms?

the subwoofer is 2ohm dvc and 600rms

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

    go with teh Avionixx 800.2...
more power, great price, very solid build.
the difference in drivers is arguable. some prefer one, some prefer teh other..

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

I would definitely go with the magnum. Also, the tsunami db110 is a GREAT amp. Or, you could go with the avionixx 1200.2, great rock solid amp with the best features...i own 2 of them. Also, if ur interested...contact NDMstang on here by PMor at the same name on AIM. I think he still has TWO avionixx 1200.2's left that are blown. I got mine for $150 from him blown...ask him to send them to avionixx with your return address and avionixx will fix them for $65...so a good as new 1200.2 for $215. good luck, peace

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

The Avionxxx and Tsunami amps are great recommendations. Based on what you want, however, I'm going to recommend my amp, the Rockford Fosgate 801s. It's a great amp. I know a lot of people on this forum don't like Rockford but my amp has been great. You can bridge it to 800 watts @ 4 ohms. I'm considering doing the same setup as you in the near future. My two 12" HE2s aren't as tight as I'd like them to be. Hope that helps you =). Oh and by the way, you can find cheap 801s's on ebay (about 250).

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

I would stay away from the Tsunami and Avionixx amps, I have seen MANY problems with them on the forums and MANY horror stories of waiting forever to get them repaired. Just something to think about.

If you want an amp to power a Magnum at 4 ohms look at these amps:

    Rockford Fosgate Power 851s (ebay @ $299)
    HiFonics Zeus ZX7500 (ebay @ $225)

I would take the Rockford out of those two if it was me... proven amps, high DF, low THD, etc. The HiFonics is also an excellent product if you want to spend a few less dollars and don't mind a larger sized amp.

    Good luck.

    Re: Amp for Magnum D2

I hear the magnums can take 1000 watts no problem as a daily driver, so i think i have narrowed it down to the hifonics brutus bx1000d (1000x1 @ 1) or the tsunami db1100 (1100x1 @ 1).

Which one is better built and will last the longest? Both have comparable features and the price difference is neglectable.
