What is Subsonic Filter and a couple of more questions ^^

Hi there.. First i want to know what a subsonic filter is.. And where do u find it (please dont say in Wallmart and stuff like that lol^^)

I am going for a sealed enclosure,so basicly i dont need it,and by now u r probably asking ''if u dont need it why the f. r u asking'' and this is why.

This is my amp.. Its got all kinds of ''stuff'' . Is the filter option for the LPF and HPF or is it for ''subsonic thingy'' or what.. I know i am a **** nub.. Sorry

Also if the filter option is for the LPF HPF is it ok for me to just turn it OFF and set the LPF with my head unit?

The subsonic filter is usually an option that comes on the amp so no you cant buy it at wal-mart good thing. more than likely your filter is a hi pass/lo pass. but it is good to have it set for low pass if your using it for subs setting the radio will work but still can let higher frequencies though. Not the best sound. so you should use the LP

Subsonic filter is a high pass filter for low frequencies, so you don't overdrive your subwoofer below tuning for example.

Think of how a High Pass Filter works on a tweeter. Now apply that in a much larger scale to your subwoofer. Your amp does not have a SSF so no need to worry about it anyway, there's very little to no information that low on music.

A SSF is basically another HPF for the lowest frequencies. But I still don't see anything in that picture that would convince you that you need a SSF. You do realise the freq. range it shows is just the bandwidth the filter can be used in...right?

Re: What is Subsonic Filter and a couple of more questions ^^

The amp is MB Quart RAA2400. I am going to use it for a sub. Its rated 800rms @4ohms,and has that certificate that HAS that power, probably even more.

I am not tuning my box, have a sealed one. At last i should:

    -turn filter ON

    -set it to LPF

    -set it about 80HZ

    -set the RANGE at x1

-dissconent the sub wires from the amp

    -set gains at minimum

-set HU volume to 59/62 - everything at default - only the woofer control to +6 (which is the max or maybe to +5?)

-connect DMM to the amp chanels in which the speaker wires go

    -turn on the car

    -play the CD

-set DMM on 28.3 V whit is the Square Root of 800

-watch for the clipping lamps in the amp

    -finish the settings-remove DMM-Inster Sub Wires-Play music

And what about front end defeat? Should that be ON or OFF?

YAP! Thanks for clearing this for me.

So 50HZ is good when setting gains? Becouse it somewhere says 50hz and somewhere 60hz.. All this gain setting aint easy at all hehe

Also the matter of two gain ''knobs'' and only one gain lol.. If u understand me.. I am bridging the amp,and it has left gain option and right gain option (check picture) do i turn both knobs,or only one? Set them in the same position and watch the DMM?

    Here is one ''smart'' question.

As u see i have CLIP INDICATORS for both chanell, will they go ON if the sub is unpluged?

I will use a DMM,but i can also watch the cliping indikators.. When they go on-that means the the signal is cliping, when they go off that means that the signal is ok?

Is this a valid opion from my part or ?

Since amps clip & subs do not, I'd guess the clip indicator would work but idk I've never had those fancy technologies
