Which amp will work better for 2 JL12w3-D2 ProWedge subs?

I have 2 JL12w3-D2 ProWedge subs and was trying to figure out which amp to get for them. The specs for the subs are 250 watts RMS at 4 ohms each. Would an amp that can produce 2 channels of 250 watts RMS at 4 ohms be perfect here? Or should I go for something a little less, like a JL 300/2 that produces 150 watts RMS at 2 ohms? Please help me out here, I want to buy an amp soon and get my stuff hooked up. Thanks!

basic rule of thumb, look at rms and peak, choose and amp that will output power in the middle of those two

    i.e
    rms-250
    peak-500

get an amp that does about 300 or a lil more

no way should you go with 1 300/2 for 2 12w3s.

i used to run 1 12w3 off a 300/2. it couldve handled more power for sure.

if youre going to stick with jl amps, go with a 500/1 or 2 300/2s.

With that rule, it would be 375wts..
I don't think this is a good rule..
    1) Some amps are very under/over - rated..
    2) Depending on the sub, you may not want to go over the RMS, unless you want to buy another one soon..

Re: Which amp will work better for 2 JL12w3-D2 ProWedge subs?

Since your running DVC 2 ohm coils I would get a dual mono amp rated at about 300-500 watts x 2, run the speakers in series parallel, that way you can get a 4 ohm load with two 2 ohm coil subs. One reason you would want a more powerful amp is so you don't have to turn the gain up on the amp all the way, and your amp will run cooler and last longer. Eclipse 32430 550 x 2 will work great, ebay, about $300.00 bucks (retail $1000.00).

    Eclipse DA7232 (2000 watts RMS)<------
