Icon32 How to set amp gain at 2V?

So I've read you should match your amp's gain to your h/u's preout voltage. My Pioneer p-3500 has 2V preouts.

One amp is an old Alpine 3548 that I use for my mids/highs. It says it's sensitivity is from .2V to 2V with .5V being the center detent (which I guess means the gain set straight up). So where would 2V be? All the way down counterclockwise? Or all the way up clockwise?

Now my sub amp is an Audiobahn A1300HCX. It goes from .2V to 4V. 4V is all the way down (turning counterclockwise) and .2V is all the way up (turning clockwise). Would 2V be around the middle I guess? How can I check for sure? Put a meter to the speaker terminals?

Maybe the Alpine is the same as the Audiobahn with the lowest voltage being all the way up and the highest voltage being all the way down?

I hear so much about setting gains wrong, I don't want distortion or blown speakers, so I wanna try and get this right Thanks

Tried it, like it better than how I had it set Had the Alpine at about 3 o clock, seemed to distort a lil...now at 9 o clock it seems better. My audiobahn was already set at 1 o clock (good guess hehe) and now my highs/mids are drowning out my bass.....but I can't really crank the bass w/o my old Kicker C-12's distorting

Well now I think I got it set about right....but may have run speaker wire that was too small for the mids/highs Believe it was 18 guage (all I had laying around) and went ahead with it. Now by looking at a calculation on eatel.net site, it looks like I may get as little as 36 watts through that wire That is if my amp is A/B and around 50% effecient.
