So I've read you should match your amp's gain to your h/u's preout voltage. My Pioneer p-3500 has 2V preouts.
One amp is an old Alpine 3548 that I use for my mids/highs. It says it's sensitivity is from .2V to 2V with .5V being the center detent (which I guess means the gain set straight up). So where would 2V be? All the way down counterclockwise? Or all the way up clockwise?
Now my sub amp is an Audiobahn A1300HCX. It goes from .2V to 4V. 4V is all the way down (turning counterclockwise) and .2V is all the way up (turning clockwise). Would 2V be around the middle I guess? How can I check for sure? Put a meter to the speaker terminals?
Maybe the Alpine is the same as the Audiobahn with the lowest voltage being all the way up and the highest voltage being all the way down?
I hear so much about setting gains wrong, I don't want distortion or blown speakers, so I wanna try and get this right Thanks
