That could deffinitly be the problem. b/c at first i figured the fuse blew so i replaced the one at the batt. i didnt replace the 1 at the amp b/c i only had 1 extra. is there a chance that they both blew.?

You may also want to check the sub to see if it is blown. Either use a DMM or take it to a shop and they will check to see if it is blown.
If the sub is blown shouldnt it still play music but sound horrible?

When a voice coil becomes damaged ( blown speaker ) it doesn't always have to sound horrible. For instance when i had my pioneer premier IMPP's (1041 DVC) i was overheating them. It would damage the voice and it would cause my amp to go in and out of protect mode. I couldn't tell the difference through my hearing though. I have one of those speakers in my room right now and i can play it, but i can't run as much power to it or else it sends my reciever into protect mode. Damaging the speaker can cause 1 of two things and increase of impedence or a decrease.. and most amps go into protect when the impedence goes below it's ohm rating. That may be what's happening you may have a slightly damaged speaker. Most good speaker don't just blow and sound horrible (or at least the ones ive worked with ), they become damaged slightly and continual use while being damage causes them to get damaged more at a faster rate.
