Re: Official Old School Collectors Thread

    this is a coustic amp-300 . 150 watts rms x 2 ....it has motorola TO3 transistors

if my coustic 560 was made around 1986. this amp has to be older...lol i wish they would have made the 560 with all TO3 transistors....that would be just to much...

the amp puts out some serious sound..very clean. best part is , it works great...im stoked..

feast your eyes on this beauty ...

That coustic reminds me of a certain other brand of amplifier that I have been having a fire sale on:

I was just going to say the same thing, looks a lot like an LP.

    Very nice find.

I have a pair of the Coustic 300's in my old-school stash. My first amp was a Coustic 150. Neat amps.

that is awsome man....do you have any more specs/info on them? besides the 150x2 ?

ive only had a amp-150 before . but it didn't work, and was missing alot of parts, so i sold it ......

bought this amp-300 on ebay for 22.00

i haven't really payed any attention to it, but it does resemble a linear power amplifier.. i wonder if LP made this amp for coustic

the amp is kinda weird to me because it has no rectifiers. well it may have them, but not like a regular amp has them ...lol

It is a Korean amp. One of the better ones. I have a Majestic and Sentrek that almost match it. They have TO3's also. The Coustic 300 is a decent amp to put on a set of BABB 6x9's. That is what we did with them in HS anyway... LP didn't have anything to do with this amp. In the 80's several mfgr's were using TO3's for their transistors. LP is not the only one. Just the only big brand that used them then...Sure would like to have that Coustic 150. Come across another, let me know. If you want to see some pics of the Majestic with TO3's, dig through my picture pages. I have a pic in there somewhere of one. (new in box, box is blue I think) .

Now for real old-school, there is the PR-7000 by Fosgate. (1973, Fosgate's first amp)
Still works great. 2nd oldest amp in my stash of classic car audio gear.

That's marvelous. It's in pretty good shape considering it's probably close to my age.

Thanks, I would like to have one. Here is the oldest non-stock car audio piece that I have. Am guessing early 60's by the packaging.
