What causes noise from amp w/vol. @ 0???
OK, well after trying a few amplifiers out on my components run active i have noticed a huge difference in sound depending on the amplifier.
The biggest difference was from my Alpine 4 ch. to my SS ref. 405. When i was running my passive xover i had the alpine bridged and with the vol on 0 i noticed some "interference" it wasnt constant or going with the rpm it was just a small amount of noise. I got my "new" HU and ran each speaker off of one channel. The interference was not nearly as bad, but i could still hear things coming out of all four speakers.
I hooked them up active using my SS ref. 405 and it was BEAUTIFUL!! Absolutely no noise what so ever anytime. (although i noticed the actual amp itself made noise each time the mids would hit. It sounded on pitch with the note it was playing. IDK WTF that is and its still there)
My question is, can you tell whether an amp will put out that "interference" by specs? Is it the Total harmonic distortion, Signal to noise ratio, Damping factor, or the TIM distortion ratings that is causing my mysterious annoying noice??? Is it none of those?
The only time i could hear it was when the vol was on 0-2 after turning it up past that the noise is drowned out.
