    Amp in protection

I just put a system in my freinds car and his amp has gone into protection after just one day of bumpin'. How do I get it out of protection and how do you think got into it. If you need to know more about the setup I tell you.

First, check and re-check all the connections and all the fuses. Make sure everything is in working order.

Have you checked voltage? Many amps go into protect mode if the voltage drops below a certain level...

check the ground, what kind of amp is it? check all the wires again, and make sure that one of the speaker wires isn't touching or something like that. mainly, check check check the wiring and the fuses, inline and fuse on the amp.

If the fuse is blown the amp goes into protect? I didn't know that.
Thats probably the problem because i remember touching the power wire with the metal on the amp and it made a huge spark. Thanks

AHA! i'll bet that blew a fuse or two.

if that doesn't work, disconnect rcas, and turn on car. see if it is still on protect

You've answered your own question, chances are you've shorted something inside of your amp. If the inline fuse is blown then the amp shouldn't even turn on in the first place. At first I thought that you might have been running the amp at too low of an impedence load because that will cause it to shut on and off or go into protection as well. After shutting down the system then turning the power back on if the amp goes instantly into protection mode then chances are you've blown something inside. Take it to a repair tech and have it checked out.

I dont know from what i remember the red light on my amp came on then when i replaced my inline fuse everything was kool again. Or maybe i remember wrong.

Lunatic - Did u get ur shizznit to work yet? that spark shouldnt have blown anything (hopefully not) if it still doesnt work after replacing the fuses if it still doesnt work check the wiring on ur sub u may have mest up the ohm load. if still doesnt work after that then get ur amp checked out, get it tested at the store.

the rcas aren't the problem i guess...
check the fuse under the hood and the fuse(s) on the amp, then check the ground again, then check it again. try wiring one sub at a time, maybe one is blown or you have a loose wire inside one of the boxes that is causing it to go on protect. then check everything again...

jensen subs don't **** the amount of assorted farm animal genitalia as the jensen amps do, i owned two xs 12's, but now i've gone pro and went with the sonys.....BUAHAHAHAHA! GHETTO MASTA!

anyway, look in the box and make sure the connections are solid, no bare wires touching. check the ground again, and again, and .......
