    amp for front speakers

    I'm looking at getting a zx250.2 to push 2 KS650.2 componants.

    The speakers are 150/75wRMS@4ohms.

    The zx250.2 is 125wx2@2ohms.

I keep seeing people advertise the zx250.2 as 85wx2@4ohms but my math puts it at 62.5wx2@4ohms. I've heard the amp is underrated, so could that be why or am I just doing my math wrong figuring the output?

Please help, I would like to order this amp today if possible so I can install by next weekend. Thanks.

    Re: amp for front speakers

actually, I already went ahead with my order. Even if the zx250.2 is only 62.5w per channel @4ohms, it beats the 22 I'm getting from my head... Thanks anyway, though.

Also, just curious how buying/selling works on these boards? I've been made offers before and honestly I'm scared to try it. I mean, is there any guarantee from either party? Just curious.

connersdad19 was selling his zx250.2 at a real good price shipped.

im geussing u havent discovered the search button yet.

2 ohms would be half the amps peak watts with most 2 ch amps and makes 85 x 2@ 4 ohms right, under rated wrms

    Re: amp for front speakers

The way I understand it, if the amp is rated at 2 ohms if you double the resistance (4 ohms) the power would be cut in half. So 250 watts into 2 ohms is 125w/channel. Double the resistance and wouldn't that half the power to 62.5 watts? I'm new at this so maybe I just don't get it as well as I thought I did. I'm going to try to read up on it a little more. I was just trying to get some reassurance that this was the right amp for my setup. I'm pretty confident that it is and it's ordered now anyway. Good deal, too. Brand new. $100 shipped with 180 day warranty by seller.

    P. S.

Not arguing that I think you're wrong about the wattage. Everyone else says it's 85 watts, too. I just don't get it yet.

    Re: amp for front speakers

FYI you dont always double your power when you cut your resistence in half.

    Re: amp for front speakers

You almost never double the power when you half the impedance. It's rated for 85@4 and it'll probably do a bit more than that. It will probably do a bit more than 125@2 as well. Plenty for a set of front speakers.
