You don't need to worry about it.

    Gain formula is V = sqrt(power * impedance).

So, lets say you're wanting 2500 watts of power @ 2 ohms. The math yields 70.7 volts, so you would just turn the gain dial (with your equalizer set to flat, all bass boost, subwoofer volumes, etc. set to 0) until you DMM reads 70.7 AC volts.

I'm not sure why so many people insist on setting gains w/ a DMM.
That is NOT a good way to set the gain!

    Watch this:

Setting the gain w/ a DMM will pretty much guarantee clipping.

I set the gain on that PG just like all the 'how-to' guides tell you to w/ a DMM.
Sure the amp did not clip at 60hz, but at 30hz....BAD CLIPPING!

Sure thing; just leave it set where it's it.

If you set your gains with the correct tone, you won't have that problem.

PG stands for Phoenix Gold, a brand.

An there are several guides all over the internet.

Re: Need a question answered about setting the gain!

i'm not putting much stock in that video. my guesses are either bass boost or SSF "Q-adjustments" were done to give gain to the 30hz note.

though i'm against using DMMs for _setting_ gains for other reasons.
