which setup is better?

Hey guys..

I am thinking of buying a 10'' type-R sub and I am not going to change the factory deck or speakers (benz c220, decent sound).

question: Is it better to run the sub off of a 2-ch amp mono, or off of a 4-ch amp (2 lines to the sub and 2 to the front component speakers)???

In other words, will 2 lines off of a 4-ch amp be sufficient enough for a type-R sub?

I am thinking of either a v-power alpine, or a rockford 500x or an 800A.

Also, do you know of any place that sells amps cheap (and recommend the type of amp please)

also what do you think about JL Audio 10" Subwoofer (10w6-AE) compared to the type-r

especially if the jl 10'' is being pushed by a clarion APX201

please somebody talk to me, coz there is a dude that is selling this combo (4 months old) and I am thinking of buying. He is asking $600 canadian (is that fair?)

i would take JL w6 or w6v2(even better) over type R, i heard type R myself, and not very impress with it.. about amps, if you want to get components, then yea go with 4 channel amp, but if you're not changing your speakers, just adding bass, just get a 2 channel or mono amp (cheaper).. to be in a safe side, just get a two channel, so if you do decide to get components, you can always run a two channel amp in a 3-way...
ebay or thezeb.com is prolly the cheapest out there...
as for your subs, have you consider eclipse titaniums???
and amps, look into xtant, PG, soundstream, JL, or rockford...
if i were you i would look something that would match my car...
for example if your car is black i would get JL, if you car is white or silver, i would get eclipse.. that's just me tho..

the w6v2 is a pretty hard sub to beat if you push decent power to it ( maybe the jl 500/1). if i were doing this system and you like your factory speakers, i would definitly at least change the deck. a deck with a 5 volt preamp output will make your bass sound so much better. anyway, that is just my opinion, it is your car, do what you want with it.

What are the specs on the amp?

Ignore those telling you to get the 500/1, you probably won't tell a difference between teh 2 amps...
