JL Audio Amps, are they really as good as there price?

    Hey guys,
So right now i am running a cadence 1000 Watt amp at 1 Ohm for my 2 12" type r's. My friend, who seems to know a lot about car audio, sayed if i used an amp like the JL Audio 1000/1 amp wire my speakers to a load of 4 Ohm, the speakers would hit harder and sound clearer and cleaner, is this true? Its kind of hard to believe but the only reason why i think this would be possible is that my cadence cost a fraction of the JL amp and my cadence is wire down to 1 Ohm.

So basically will a JL Audio amp make my system sound better?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

JL amps, and especially 1000/1 amp are very good amps, but they are extremely overrated and therefore overpriced. You can spend much less and get better results.

So now my question is will a JL Audio 300/2 sound better than a Cadence TXA-300/2? I plan on buying some PG rsd's giving the comps 150w rms.

Thats exactly what i am thinking. I think i am fine with my cadence amps. They are great and cheap amps that give my subs the power they need. But my question now is what is the difference, if any, if i would wire my subs to an amp at 4 ohm compared to the 1 ohm load they are on now?

The electrical of my amp or my car? I know that my amp can handle the 1 ohm load, they are competition amps. As for electrical i have already done the big 3 and really do not want to buy a h/o amplifier but i might buy a yellow top optima battery to replace my stock one once i install my amp for my comp's. Would that be a good idea you think?

I doubt you need a alt. or battery, although its never a bad idea. What size alt. does your car come with stock? Are you seeing any dimming? I doubt it since your only pushing about 1K watts..

Re: JL Audio Amps, are they really as good as there price?

So am i hurting the electrical on my car with the 1 ohm load right now? the last thing i would want to do is hurt the electrical on my new car. If so, what can i do to upgrade my electrical?

The size of my alt is 110-amp's. And no i am not seeing any light dimming which is good. But if i would add the extra 300 watts for the comp's do you think i'll need a battery because that will defiantly save me some money, and thats always good.

honestly, no i dont think you would need it. And even if you did, a alt. would be a better investment imo, since the battery is storage, your alt. is what charges it. However, ill let someone with more experience comment on it as well and correct me if needed.
