    Stereo Vs Mono MTX amp

    Hi all

    I have 2 MTX 250x amplifiers (2x100 @ 2 ohm, 200x1 @ 4 ohm bridged) and I have (2) Midbass 8 ohm speakers and (2) 8 ohm tweeters.

The only way of getting the most out of my amps is running one amp bridged with the pair of Midbass speakers in parallel, and the other amp bridged with the Tweeters.

Would there be any Sound Quality loss by doing this? . . . I know stereo allows different sounds to go to either side, and mono sends the same to both sides, but could the overall quality of sound be affected by this?

If you run it that way you won't have stereo you will have mono.It will not sound near as good as stereo. You should run each amp in 2 channel mode. You can run both mids on one amp using right and left signal and the tweeters on the other amp using right and left signals. You will have to high pass the tweeters at an appropriate frequency though.Does your head unit have a crossover and 3 sets of preouts ?If your speakers have a fairly high sensitivity it should be enough power to sound decent. What brand and model are your speakers ?

Re: Stereo Vs Mono MTX amp

If you REALLY want to get the power those amps are capable of (and the speakers can all handle 100 under-rated watts)...

Run one amp bridged for the left mid & tweet.
The other bridged for the right.

The amps, individually will be operating in mono, but since there is one for left, and one for right you will still have stereo.

The catch is you will have to find an in line high pass filter for the tweeters that can handle ~100w.

That will give you around 100w per speaker.

Pyfocal's suggestion would work fine, but it wouldn't be any less difficult and it would only give you about 25w per speaker.
