JBL BP amps - Stereo vs mono

Hey all. I have a question about the JBL BP series sub amps. I just want to know if they put out the same power in stereo and mono operation. The amp in question is the 1200.1 I have it wired in 2 ohm stereo. Will it put out the same 1200W as it does in 2 ohm mono? I have heard that it is the same. Just checking to make sure.

Well, that amp is mono, so that is the only way you can have it wired. All of the power ratings at one channel, because the amp is bridged internally. You can't have it wired in stereo(i think ).

You're right except that it's not bridged internally, there's nothing to bridge in a monoblock. The two outputs you're seeing are paralell to each other just inside the amp. Meaning if you hook a 4 ohm sub to each set of terminals it will see a two ohm load. There are 2 sets of terminals just for ease of wiring multiple speaker leads.

Well, that's what i meant. By being bridged internally it's just like bridging two channels of a 2-channel amp into one. It is not possible to get stereo out of a mono amp.
