Where do the good Phoenix Gold amps end and crappy begin?

Looking at them on ebay and not sure when the quality goes down.
Is the QX series anygood? Sapphire? XS?
Can someone list off good and bad or where the delineation is?

Im not quite following your question here, but all pg amps are good.

all of pg's amp's are quality whoever told you they werent was feeding you a line

QX, Sapphire, & Octane (not including the Octane LE) are the low level PG line.

The Sapphire were still quality amps. The Octane R are probably the worst amps they ever sold and they are still decent.

I was under the impression they were sold and the more recent amps from them were crappy. Like after Xenon or so. Maybe I am thinking of Soundstream and Orion. I think maybe I mixed them up then. Go to know.
So pretty much any PG amp other than Octane is good at worst and Great at best? This will help in my amp search.

The first batch of Xenon's had manufacturing issues. They are a fine amp and have the same architecture as the previous high lines. The RSD amps are stripped down (feature wise) of Phoenix Gold top line amplifier design.

The good thing is about the Xenon is the bad batch of them fails with usage. If you buy a used one that has been used, your pretty much good. I would be a little wary of one that been sitting in someone closet and never used BNIB.

The rsd line is pretty much a tantrum replacement. With that said, many people prefer the rsd amps over the xenons. The original engineer of the old school pg ms line had alot to do with the engineering of the rsd line up if that tells you something about its quality

the Xenons are great..put out the rated power all day long and clean too...wish I still had mine but like lots of us we cant stay with one thing long...PG has always made good amps but I dont care for the Octane...they are the lowest they made imo...

Find some Xenons and youlll love them...find something older and you will be really happy..

bottom line you cant really go wrong with anything PG....now what they put out next is going to be interesting...the company was bought last year but they havnt made anything new yet

They have another line droping, but its going to be entry level. They also have the roadster 66 that will be out in a few months aswell. As for a new high end line, maybe next year.

In 2001 Phoenix Gold became less desired at the amp and sub level. Their processors and signal line drivers have not changed since the late 90s...

I find that statement idiotic... The same quality that was there in the early 90s has not changed. I currently own a m44, and was unable to hear any difference between that, and my old xenon amp with the gains matched. As for subs, the octane zrs, xenons, and titanium elites did very well, infact they are hard to beat for the money. The current rsd line has done even better, and gotten extreme praise in magazines, and public. Maybe even more praise than most any other sub pg has made. With that said, I couldnt dissagree more with your statement...

You might want to check with the Local Installers... Nobody sells PG in stores anymore and that is why they are all over the internet... I used to sell PG back in the day with the JLW6s at 1.6 ohm mono... The PG amps from specifically 94-97 are significantly better. I used to have the PPI PC 2350 art series on my JL 12W6 trio and it was pure clean power.. Orion back in the day, much better, US amps back in the day, much better, Xtant back in the day... much beter...

If its on Ebay in mass quantities its obvious why...

This comes down to a personal my opinion vs yours..

Thats pretty weak....if you feel that way , fine....but some people dont know either way and you are putting out "garbage" statements....with nothing to back it up...

then, people who are looking for info take your remarks and think it must be true for no reason at all other YOU said it...
I dont even care if you just give your opinion as long as you give more info than just a studid sounding remark...


If you cant do better than that then dont bother...the guy is looking for real help and all you gave was crap...
