I currently have an 8 guage amp kit installed, I'd like to swap out my current amp with the soundstream 500.1 but I'd like to keep the current amp kit without having to re-install another 4 guage amp kit.

if the length is less than a foot it can

if you're running subs with that amp, nope. just don't even thing about it. subs eat up more power than mids. i had a 12 gauge to my lightning audio amp and used a sub on it and the sub would just go out and the amp's power light would dim. the amp puts out 150x1 when bridge, which is exactly what i did. well..the amp kit DID say "up to 150 watts" :p

then i ran my mids with the same power, and it worked fine.
my profile has the 8 gauge, rated at 410x1@2ohm and it doesn't even make full power yet. gotta change it to 4 gauge.

BOTTOM LINE: run 4 gauge for sub.
