It's not that you can't use them, it's just that mono amps work better for this application. Most mono amps nowadays are class d, which are far more efficient than class a/b (which is what most multi-channel amps are). He doesn't need a multi-channel, so why not get an amp that will be less drain on the vehicle's electric system? The more drain you create on the electrical system, the more your car has to work to keep up. That translates to less horsepower and mor gas consumption. It may not be huge, but it will make a difference. And since you can get a mono amp in your price range, I see no reason to go with a multi-channel.
