What Amplifier for Subs?
Hey al I'm new to the forum and need a bit of help here so bear with me. I'm getting 2 Kicker 10 inchers at 150 Watt RMS at 4 ohms each at a cheap price from a friend. Now I don't know how to power these things. I found a Kicker amp that does 150 Watt RMS at 4 ohms. So do I need 2 of these and bridge them? But i don't know how to bridge 2 mono amps. Also whould these need a power capacator? (O and I have to stick to all kicker to get a discount) Thanks!

Re: What Amplifier for Subs?
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Please do not try to "bridge" 2 mono amps unless you know what you are doing (and the amps are capable, those Kickers are not). If the subs are single voice coil, then look for an amp that will do roughly 300-500 @ 2 ohms (when both subs are wired, this is your final load). I would personally recomend giving yourself a little headroom and go closer to 500 or so, and then set your gains accordingly.
edit: Don't worry about the cap either. There are Kicker amps that will fit the bill if you need to stay with Kicker.

Heres the link of an amp I found, would this be like something you were talking about?

Although its kind of confusing cause it almost looks as if they are sayying it has 2 channels which can't be right.

Re: What Amplifier for Subs?
I think the "x2" might be a typo on their part.

how much are you paying for these if you don;t mind me asking? If you are paying close to full retail, you might be able to find better subs.

$300 for that amp is too much.

Re: What Amplifier for Subs?
just put a blind eye at prices, i'm getting the stuff discounted which is why I have to stick with all Kicker

Re: What Amplifier for Subs?
So do you think that that Amp would work?

Re: What Amplifier for Subs?
The comp VR's and the 750.1 is a better set up. If you can swing it, it is probably worth the extra $$.
