Do you all prefer External cross-overs on amps?

I am trying to decide between an amp that has an internal cross-over (most amps) and one that has an external cross-over. Which do you all prefer and why. Also, is it hard to install an external cross-over? In other words, would my installer know exactly what to do?

well....i prefer an external cross over cause it allows the amp to concentrate fully on the signal that has already been xover.....and doesnt have to use any power or anything to xover the signal...thats not really based on any facts...jus my opinion

I like external for the flexibility. Usually with a good external crossover you have a lot more flexibility than with inborad models.

    5 % equipment
    90 % install
    5% beer

Cool...thanks for the info....any of you ever heard of Monitor-1 amps? I heard that they are basically Zapco amps with an external cross-over. The cross-over that comes with the amp (for an extra $100) is the Arc Audio external cross-over.

I am comparing the Monitor-1 MK 4.70 to the PG Tantrum 600.4.
