    back again

    heya people,

thanks to the help of some of the guys in here, i actually have a system installed in my golf that plays music pretty okay, but i WON a amp and some speakers at a show yesterday and i want it in (it looks leet!)

Its a GTO-6000 amplifier from jbl and a bandpass jbl box with a 12" woofer in it (dunno the box name). I will make a pic of the sideconnectors in an hour and post it here later, i need to know which settings to adjust to get a different bass (there are so many switches).

for now, tnx a lot couz cardriving just got better

as i said i had some questions, for starters:

can i put the second sub port to power the sub also ? Or will this blow my sub ?

How do i get less of a THUMP in my bass ? What set to change (hertz? gain?)

Where to place it best in the trunk?

i'n a n00b i know, just want to find some logic in all of this

most important, the sub is labeled 150w rms @ 4ohm 250w peak

can i like put the gto amp to deliver 300w @ 2 ohm or 600w @ 1 ohm? If yes, would the sub carry that much?

    Alright...

    1) Dont add another port to your box...that box is made specifically for your sub, dont tinker with it.

    2) Less of a thump? What do you mean? Like, less bass response? Or does it sound like someone beating a pillow?

    3) Box placement depends on you. Move the box around to various locations in your trunk and see which position sounds the best to you.

    4) I wouldnt give that sub more than 200 watts RMS.

Hope this helps....if you need anything else, feel free to ask.

    Ok, here goes:

I got myself a role of rubber (10 meters, 1.5 wide, 7mm thick) and i'm going to get all stuff out tonight and start to put the trunk's bottom in rubber.

From there i am planning to place a wooden plate that covers the complete bottom of the trunk, the plate would rest on the rubbers below it.

From that the sideopenings in the trunk i am planning to fill with pjur (isolation material) and also cover those off with wood...

From there i'm going to raise all the sides of the bottom plate with wooden bars and one of those bars will be in the middle, from there another plexiglass plate comes over that, the room in between is ment for the two phoenix and the one jbl amplifier, over that comes a peace of carpet, on top of that comes the jbl bandpass box.

This is a fly-by of what i am planning, i hope you guys have a clue of what i'm building and already know things i might not wanna do (like, is wood okay or will it vibrate like mad ****?).

Currently the plates of my exhaust system have vibrated off so i really need to de-vibrate

PS: Bought myself a new camera and i'm gonna make pics daily to keep the proces visible, to anybody that intends to help me: answer one question and answer them all, meaning i need someone that checks this side daily and does not mind to check my gallery daily to see the progress and maybe say to me: STOP AND GO NO FURTHER, you should do it a other way....

otherwise i finish the install, it will look ace but it will sound like ****

tnx so far, i'm getting the hang of this :>

I'm amazed, consider me a fairly newbie on the audio scene but i thought that making a box or buying a box was not such a big difference but then again i know jack **** about it

I was reading some books that i received with the amps and i found out that the phoenix gold 180.2 amplifier is more suitable to power the sub then the jbl is because it puts out 180RMS mono and more important has a little hole on the side where i should be able to put in a remote bass controller..

Is the gto any good ? Will it power my rear speakers the same as the phoenix did or is the quality crap ? My rear speakers are 180w rms sony shitplod speakers (they ****)

the other amp is a phoenix 90.2 which puts out 2x25w rms and this currently powers my tweeters and my front speakers, is it smarter to let it only power the tweeters and throw the front speakers on the jbl ? they are 75w rms...

i'm currently shielding all wires and coating the trunk with 8mm thick rubber demping material, is 8mm enough for the bass i carry ?
