    mono amp

    can a mono amp be hooked up to a couple 6x9s and run them both? how is that wiring done ? i think it can cuz they just in a trunk and its all open in there they arent in boxes or nothin

    Sure, just hook them up in paralell. But it would sound much better if you got a 2 channel (stereo) amp for the 6x9s. And used the mono amp for a subwoofer.

    ok. thanks. but why do you say a 2 ch. would be better? i beleive you all the way, i'm not questioning you. i just want to know why so i get smarter at this stuff ya know.

    Most cds, tapes, and fm radio is recorded or broadcast in stereo sound. To hear stereo sound you need a 2 channel amp and 2 speakers. Low bass frequencies are not in stereo, so a mono amp can power a subwoofer.
    Most headunits have stereo outputs. If you used a mono amp you would have to pick either the left or right channel to listen to. Although you could use a y adapter to combine them.
