Is the KENWOOD KAC-8152D any good

I messed up in my nik oh well, anyways hi im new. Hello everyone.

I just bought this Kenwood KAC-8152D amp from audio express in las vegas, the problem I am having is, I have a cheap wal mart VR400 400 watt that hits just as hard as this big boy Kenwood 1100W, 550RMS @ 2ohms. I think its quite funny. I just spent 370 bucks for this amp that cant hit any harder then my lil 89 dollar wal mart amp.

Is there something I need to change and or check that might have to be setup diff with this Kenwood AMP?? Note: I just went out and got some 14 RWG speaker wire, didnt help.

Please help, im 370 dollars dumb right now.

BTW: I have a single coil 12" Massive in a compression box, could it be the wimpy speaker that is setting the limit in the Bass?

I don't know anything about Massive's speakers and subs so I cannot directly comment on the quality there possibly being an issue...

But you've stated that your sub is a single coil...am I correct in assuming that it's an SVC 4 Ohm? If so, the 8152D only outputs 300 watts (@ 14.4v) into a 4 Ohm load.

On a side note - I hope you got one heckuva warranty.....the 8152D can be had elsewhere for ALOT less than the better part of 4 C-notes.....

Yea I do believe its just a 4ohm speaker, and yup I paid that much, I dunno where else to go out here in las vegas, everyone just seems to love to rip ppl off, I found this amp online for 159 bucks right after I bought it, so I melt ripped.

And no ya cant have it for $50 bucks. I aint gonna be ripped of twice, in less then one week. Maybe next week.

I believe so, I set them atleast once a day lol. I do believe its the Sub, I think it gets to a limit and then the bass is dead or weak after i hit vol 32. I planned on getting a new sub anyways, Any adive for me? I know its gonna be a 2ohm sub so what is good? a P U N C H Sub? or no?

Find a 400 to 600 watt RMS DVC 4ohm sub, wire the coils parrallel to get your 2ohm load, now the amp will put out its rated 550watts RMS.
A Rockford punch sub is a "decent" performer but for the money I think you should look elsewhere, if you like massive audio's products then just upgrade to a better model like this one-

    http://www.massiveaudio.com/lowband/...ion/cw-12.html

For a more juicy sound you could try the remote bass control that comes mith the amp, it is not a remote gain controller but rather an ajustable bass boost, just pick the frequency you want and increase the volume. This feature is usually not needed if you set everything up nicely though.

What do u mean by wiring the coils parrallel, I only have one sub, how would I brige this sub or amp to a 2ohm load.

And the massive speaker is very impressive considering it's probably only a 150 max RMS taking a beaten by this Kenwood, I think Kenwood makes the Best head units and now im investing some money into their amps, hopelly when I get a new Sub, ill relax some.

On a DVC sub you have a pair of coils and a pair of inputs on one sub, this gives you more flexibilty in wiring options, for example with a DVC 4ohm sub you can wire it for either 2ohms or 8ohms.
For parrallel you just split the positive terminal on the amp to each positive terminal on the sub, repeat for the negative.

Will you please read your own post. The sub is only like 150 watts max. Sending any more power to it will not get it louder. It's probably at it's limits and adding more power just shortens it's life.

Once a sub reaches it's mechanical limits thats pretty much it man...

oook, hehe. I honestly dunno how many watts it can handle im just guessing since it's a single coil mag and has a old looking frame.

Ok ill leave at that thanks for the replys.
