So, you are saying that precision power is a good amp? I've seen one on CL for cheap, don't know if it's still available.

im going to be running a set of skar 6.5 comps up front and 6.5s coax in the rear running off the 4 channel. so you say get the 800.4?

As well, The 1300.1 has more clean power output than my AP1800.1 ever did. My SSA Icon thanked me when I made the switch.
With that said, I would opine that those voltages are just as accurate as any joe schmo who "clamps" there amps volage based on subjective impedance numbers.
since you've been mentioning setting your gains etc and getting the right voltage, how did you set them? just curious.

also the newer ppi amps(black ice) are based off the soundstream rubicon series from what i have heard.... could be wrong.

I'm not 100 percent positive, but I "think" I saw a clamp test on the 1800 on one of the forums. If I remember right it did just a hair more than rated.

Using OHMS law: Volts=SQRT(Watts x Ohms). So for the 1300.1 - SQRT(1200)=34.6.... i set the gain to 34-35 at my preset volume (32 on my kenwood as my rear fill clips on anything higher) using a -3 DB sine wave @ 50HZ. I like -3 DB as it gives a decent amount of headroom and SQ while maintaining high volume levels.
Also You are right on the rubicon base for the black ice amps. Grizz Archer comfirmed this on DIYMA along time ago. That is why I am using a rubicon 2500 with my black ice amps. similar designs and same form factor.

    OP:
OCS has a great price on the rub2500.1's.... headroom isnt a bad thing.

they have one left at 150 shipped on ebay. just bought one last week. about 20 inches long. perfect next to my rubicon 2500.

    Precision Power BK800 4

Or pick up 520.4 and run your Skar set active...rear fill on head unit. PPI amps have bandpass crossovers for mids up to 4K

thanks.... im going to mess with my gains this weekend. have to take out my sub and seal the speaker up better so might as well mess with the amp too.

Well, I'm not sure if it matters since it's a 4 channel AB and that's a mono class D, but my PPI BK800.4 is awesome. Again, if that matters.

Re: anyone with a Precision Power BK1800.1D ??

well i got my bk1800.1 in the mail friday and got it all put in except my dumba$$ forgot to order a fuse for it so i have to wait till tomorrow for a 150 amp anl fuse (calls for 160 amp but cant find them anywhere except for around $20 online along with shipping) because no where around my area carries them! only sizes i could find were 100, 200 and 250 WTF is that? anyways ill keep an update on how it performs once the fuse is in. very beefy heavy amp weights in at 15 lbs. seems to be a nice quality built amp for sure! only time will tell tho. sorry for camera focus problem

Thanks for the gut shots, but I would have tested it before breaking the warranty seal if there was one
