I had a refurbed 1200 from DBr a couple of years ago that did that. Supposedly it was no big deal according to some around here, but it was an annoying buzzing sound. Yes indeed sir you can go active with it. Nice cross over points unlike other amps. I had it strictly for tweeter duty mixed with a kenwood X994.
