    I have a question.....

    I heard that in a chevy blazer(like mine) that placing a port 3 inches from hatch can increase in spl.
    Is this true? If so is that for Burps or Spl?

    Ive been told differently, by a few people. but that's the thing, you really don't know what will render better results until you have tested all configurations.

    Re: I have a question.....

    I'm sub back port back in my Grand Cherokee. It gets decently loud off 600 RMS. It's nothing crazy, but it satisfies me, for now.

    Try it and see. I always try different sub and port placement.

    Re: I have a question.....

    Do the math. It's all based on wavelength and listening position.
    Wavelength = speedofsound / frequency.
    1120-1130 ft/sec is the range for the speed of sound, varies with humidity/temp/barometric pressure/etc.

    You want direct and reflected to be coherent at you metering location.
    Where you place the sub(s) determine what room modes you excite
    Where you listen determines which room modes you hear/measure

    have you been helped by me? i'd love to know. shoot me a PM.

    Testing > theory

    For the distance from an interior wall, it depends. Mine is 4.5 inches.
